Anyone purchased a vehicle via DriveTheDeal.com?

As the header asks, has anyone purchased a brand new car through DriveTheDeal.com, and if so, what kind of experience did they have, good or bad?

I am just so wary of making such a large purchase via the Internet, but their discounts seem to be very good.

Apparently they're just brokers for main dealers, you end up going to the dealers to pay and collect the car as I understand

Yes, that is my understanding. But I am wary, and would like to find out if anyone has had direct dealings with them, and if so, what kind of experience they had, good or bad.

Our family has purchased about 7-8 cars via DTD. DTD is the referring broker and gets 1% from the dealer for putting volume business their way. Once you've ordered 95% of your contact is with the supplying dealer and you pay the dealer and not DTD so there is no risk.

There is a user on here (with MSE permission) - DealDrivers

They have www.dealdrivers.co.uk which looks to be similar.

The user seems to have put some good comments on overtime helping out MSE users.

Plus they would not want to have the MSE forum wrath if the deal goes wrong!

So, if there is a problem, and the deal does not go through, what happens to the down payment paid to DTD?

And ... have you ever had any problems at the point of delivery - say a bump or a scratch on a brand new car?

If there is a problem I would imagine DTD would refund the down payment like any other dealer.

Never had a problem with delivery re: damage. The cars come on a small 3-4 car transporter and the driver does the handover. Once one of the cars came on a HGV type transporter and we had to walk to the main road as the driver did not want to risk getting stuck in our small cul-de-sac. But that was no big deal. If you want really quick delivery they can drive the car to you rather than use a transporter.

Anyone else? I was hoping that I could get a good cross section of people responding to this, to get a feel for the whole thing.

Have you also tried your local dealers to see what they can offer? Go along armed with some internet prices from DDD and others.
Last November my local dealer beat all of them considerably without much argument.
Don't just assume that these brokers are the cheapest.
  • a colleague at work used dtd and it went through with absolutely no problem. They passed her details to the Honda dealer and she dealt entirely with the dealer from that point on. All money was paid to the dealer and the car was delivered on a trailer. I'm currently looking for a new car and I would be happy to use dtd or dealdrivers, although I am checking local dealers at the moment to see what they can offer.
