summer house or not

i am thinking of buying a small summer house - our garden is small so space is precious. Would be hoping to get one for under £300.

I was wondering if it would just be a waste of money and gather spiders and junk or would it be a nice addition to our tiny garden. Any advice? thanks

I think it would be a waste of money. A summer house would take up too much room in a tiny garden and just 'stick out'. have you thought about having a slightly more open enclosure like a pergola, covered in a flowering climber? It would still give a nice enclosed feel but wouldn't take up floor space. And to be honest, unless you have a huge, magnificant summer house, then it would just feel like you were sitting in a shed ;)

I have one and I LOVE it! Mine is not a huge garden so I chose one that fits neatly in a corner and I would not be without it. I think mine is about 9ft x 9 ft with 5 sides, double doors and large windows either side.

I paid a lot more than £300 though - not sure what you'd get for that money. We cleared our own corner and DH laid a concrete base. The price included delivery and erecting summerhouse.

If you DO get one, don't fill it with junk! Kepp just the essentials in there and insist that if anybody takes anything in there, they take it out again too! My DH reckons some people have beautiful summerhouses and NEVER use them because they store all their garden stuff in them.

I don't think you'd regret it. You're out of the wind/rain/sun and even though it's probably only a short distance into your house, it's weird but I feel like I'm on holiday when I go in mine!!
