Acer 5050 battery life

hi,

my acer 5050 notebook battery life has got to the point were it only lasts about 40- 45 minutes on a balanced setting.

i've always had it on this setting and it used to last at least 1 and a half to 2 hours.

anybody encountered anything similiar? only had since last may and its been back to acer already as hard drive failed

thanks

Wife has said Notebook, set on performance settings and is usually lucky to get an hour, but it is mainly used in the mains. Other than that no other problems and has been a great Laptop. She got it Chrimbo 2006 BTW.

Could be the battery is stuffed with so many Charges/Discharges think they only give a 6 month warranty on batteries and class then as a consumable, but may be worth giving Acer a call to see what they say.
    Cheers

Indeed I get my girlfriend to use her Acer with the battery disconnected altogether, as she only uses it at home. So even though her 5051 is over a year old, the battery remains unused.

Batteries do get depleted with the constant charging cycles.

are you saying that when i have the battery in and also the mains AV plug in, this can give the battery a shorter life??

My 5051 has shockingly bad battery life too. I've had mine even less. Since about August I think. Battery life in Ubuntu is about 40 minutes. I have to have it plugged into the mains most times.

Shame, apart from the battery life it's a good little laptop. I'll be getting a newer Dell at some point so I'm just getting by at the moment.

I'd imagine a new battery might help things, but as you mention, you'll only had it one year, it's frustrating to have to buy one so soon.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant. That way, you are constantly topping up the battery.

Whereas the battery for my girlfriend's laptop will be factory fresh, as it has never been used.
