Have to agree the docking station appears to be a way of the stores getting another £50 off you!

My kodak camera works with AA batteries, so I just have spares on charge in a normal charger. (I use the 800 power ones, very weak and not rec for a digi camera, but work just fine!)

The camera plugs into the pc with a usb wire, and when I plug it in and switch on, the pc recognises it and does the upload for me.

You can only use certain types of rechargable battery with the Kodak, and as far as I remember you can't use the normal alkaline ones. I've got the docking station 6000 which comes with a rechargeable battery pack for the camera, which has lasted me over 2 years so far, and it's so easy to use - just sit the camera on it and it's fully charged within a couple of hours, and just press a button to transfer all pics to PC! They're only about £30 to buy and it would probably cost around that to kit yourself out with rechargeable batteries and a charger

Can anyone advise on the cheapest kodak dig for my dd for xmas, already have new docking ststion so wanted to go for a kodak for her, she is 12 so dont want to spend alot/ or any suggestions for a cheap digi with lcd screen?

If you go to your local Curry's/Dixons/PC World they're currently selling the CX7430 for less than £100. It's coming up as out of stock online but many stores still have them and will honour the online price. I got one last week as an upgrade from my CX6200 and it's a lovely little camera - 4.0MP, 3x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom - great for the price! :)

what about the kodak c330? ive found it on argos for £130 and not sure whether it is any good - how much memory am i looking at - i would need to store about 30 or 40 photos till i get home and print them off.....there is no point having a camera where you can only store 10 or so......the above is a video too.........
  • go for at least 256Mb Buy it online £15-20 depending on type should hold 100 or so pics depending on resolution
remember you can usually edit in camera and delete any that weren't quite right - one of the bugbears of digi cameras is delay in taking pic after youpress
buy a memory card reader as well should be less than a £5 and stays connected to PC just remove card from camera and and plugin
    Use rechargeable NimH batteries
https://www.Parkcameras.com are good - a proper photo shop with good web prices for cameras
Buy memory separately from 7 day shop, ebuyer etc

what a pity they werent only £15 - £20 - i think you meant cheaper hun? lol..........thanks for the information - the reason i want a digi is cos you can edit and delete - no more cut off heads being printed - and why do i keep the pics where you can only see a shadow of your kids in it? should really chuck them away......

Yeah, well pointed out cq. I didn't make it clear that not all cameras take AA batteries. If the one you want doesn't, or if you don't already have a charger for the type yours will use, then a docking station might be an economical charger.

I already had AA chargers, and the camera works fine on cheapo's too!

Magoogy, yes digital id the way to go for only keeping the good photos. You can also snap away and then choose the best rather than only taking one of each situation.

Jim makes a good point - there's a delay with digi between pressing the shutter and the photo being taken. If you half press down the button, it does the focussing part and cuts down that delay. But that only works if your subject stays in the same place.

I would still recommend digi though. But dont be tempted to buy a cheapo one to try out with. I wasted £80 on one which gave pretty biz results. That was a few years ago so prob would cost about £40 now for that quality.
