Sneaky Overdraft?

Options
Hi, I don't know if this is the appropriate place to post this but it seemed best. I'll try and keep it short and sweet.

I didn't have an over draft. When my balance would run out it usually would say, "insufficient funds". At this point I'd use another bank account that my parents put in a few quid to help me out. I wasn't working around Christmas as my contract with my old company ended and was due to start a job in February. I was using up all my funds obviously as I had no incomings.

The bank that I was with sneakily let me go overdrawn even though I didn't have an over draft. This was something like £20. As I'd gone over 3 times they charged me £30 for each one, so that's £90.

That's not the problem as because it was my first time being over drawn they refunded it when I questioned them, of course! My problem is that one of the staff told me that this will be a black mark against me credit wise. I'm thinking of emailing someone at the bank, as I didn't have an overdraft limit and should have even gone over it.

Thanks

  • I'm sure they cannot let you go over the insuffient sum allowed as they need some sort of agreement with them to do that and if you didnt apply for it then you might aswell ask why have i gone overdrawn without an overdraft, e.g i used to have a cashcard for problems like this, if i didnt have the money in my account to pay for a direct debit or a company then therefore they couldnt touch anythink and the bank could not charge me as it wouldnt be overdrawn, check with your bank manager, sit him down and tell him this is not on and see what he has to say.

They are only talking about a note on your internal file at the bank. There will be no 'black mark' on your credit file at any of the CRA's and won't affect your credit record for any credit applications with anyone else.
