I can recommend Jeff Lloyd as an independent instructor; he taught me to drive in 1992 (I was one of his first pupils) and as far as I know he is still going. He is patient, gives clear instruction and has a relaxed manner.

I learnt with a school called DLA. I would recommend them to anyone - my Instructor was a good laugh but was extremely good at teaching and making sure I understood everything.

    Must've worked - passed 1st time ;)))

Plus they're not stupidly priced like BSM or AA!!

    Here's the website - http://www.drivelearnachieve.com/

and here you can read reviews of them -

    Good Luck !

I can recommend Tony of Britania Driving I passed my test last week after only 24 hours of lessons. I'm 25 and had never driven before in my life so that's pretty good in my book.
He's a really nice friendly guy and has a great way of explaining everything and putting you at ease.

Lessons are really great value at £16.50 per hour or £150 if you buy a block of ten. I think the first block of ten you buy are only £100 too!

If you do decide to go with him please let him know that 'Charlie' recommended him. I told him when I passed how appreciative I was and it would be nice for him to know that I think highly of him enough to recommend him to others.
