Toshiba laptop from Dixon's

>:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( I bought a new laptop in July 04 of this year. The 1st laptop was badly scratched on the top so I exchaanged it.Unfortunately stupidly I did not try the 2nd one until last Wednesday,27/10/04 and to my dismay it will not power up.I never thought for one minute it could be faulty. So off I went back to Dixon's to exchange it.I got nowhere as after 28 days you are supposed to have it repaired. Here I point out that it cost 999pounds and 0.99p.1p off 1000 pounds.Pound sign kaput on old computer!!
So this evening I went back to Dixon's to state my case again,i.e.I've never used the laptop from day on in July and expect an exchange.Like they care,I was told that the Manager was in a meeting.Ha Ha, as I saw him in the doorway of the shop.
Obviously he had no bottle so to speak and sent his underling to fob me off.
Well,I have cancelled it's repair by e-mail and I've e-mailed Dixon's customer services and await their reply, and I will take it up with Trading standards and possibly 'Watchdog' if it's not sorted out because at the end of the day I've never used it,which means they sold me a faulty laptop.
So a note of caution DO NOT BUY IN DIXON'S AS YOU DON'T GET TREATED DECENTLY AND THEY ARE ARROGANT.

1st mistake buying from the Dixons Group, could of got it cheaper and with much better service elsewhere.
The store is within their rights to send the item away for repair once it is outside their return policy. I would recommend you telephone the HQ, get a manager, fax them direct your letter of complaint so it's instant and let them deal with the store on your behalf.
Do not let them fob you off the manufacturer, it's entirely the shops responsibility.
If you have further problems l would recommend you look at the trading standards site which has details of your rights under the sale of goods act. Did you pay by credit card? They are also responsible for goods if you did.
http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/
and also http://www.howtocomplain.com if you don't get any joy going to the HQ direct.
If you find a brick wall at Dixons (which l'm pretty much expecting) you could contact Toshiba direct and try your case with a manager at their customer care dept.
Your main issue is that fact that the unit is now months old. If it was days you could simply demand refund under the stores returns policy. I'm sure next time you'll be checking the contains within the first weekSense is not common.0
