laptop - pc world

i brought a laptop in december 2006 as a xmas present 6months later it developed a fault i sent it off to be fixed it returned worked ok for a while then started going faulty again. then i took it back sent it off to be fixed came back still broke, then again in december 2007 took it to the store where they sent it off came back and its still faulty.
i know the 1yr gurantee is up but i purchased (pc performance i think) insurance with pc world and im still paying it and have never missed a payment. so anyway im taking it up saturday to be sent off again but i wondering if theres a possibility off them replacing it instead as i think its really taking the mick now, especially as i have to keep the insurance until its fixed (which has been over a year now)

Check the insurance policy itself. It may have words to the effect that if more than X repairs are required then they will replace the machine.

You do not say what was wrong with your machine (hardware or software) but when I used to fix machines many people brought them in complaining the computer was broken .. often all that was wrong was that they had screwed up an installation or there was a software problem. If this is the case on your computer then basically there is nothing wrong with it, just the software.

hi i have checked the insurance agreement and all it says if that if they can not fix it they will replace it. problem is everytime i send it off they send it back and say they have fixed it when they havent. not sure whats wrong with it first few times it was sent off for repair it was because it kept shutting down, but now it is saying something about system 32 before it shuts down which it never did before.

Shutting down could be a number of different things (hardware or software) but 'system32' is usually down to a corrupted windows installation (i.e. software). Can I suggest that you maybe consider posting a more detailed explanation of the problem on the 'Techie Forum' .. some of the guys there may be able to help.

  • Your having seperate problems, these are not the same the repair, furthermore both instances sound very much like software/harddrive corruptions normally caused by users doing things wrong i.e installing viruses, dodgy programmes, not closing down properly etc etc

    Any teenage child per harps?

You dont have a chance of repair, simply them removing your latest !!!!!! caused virus/corruption

hi the problem was not there when we sent it off it started once they had it so was caused by them, we havent used it since as havent been able to.

i dont know what kind of things your into but we dont use our computer for !!!!!!, well at least i dont so unless my 2yr old son has been (even though that is impossible as we havent been able to use it since they returned it) then it can not be from that
