Yuck - Maggots In The Bin Help!!!

Hurrah hurrah, I have found the holy grail of bin maggot treatment! And you can get it on amazon or in Waitrose for under £5. It has lasted me 5 full wheelie bins so far! It's called Bin Buddy. It comes in a little tub that looks like a wheelie bin!0

Just called my council as the maggots in our bin are crawling on the outside now too! We bagged everyhing but we have nappies in there...
They are sending a wagon to collect the bin but gross! I am going to jet wash it and pour Salt in.0 -
It's interesting to see the difference in the rubbish collections on here.
We have fortnightly collections, ie household rubbish one week & cardboard, paper, plastic bottles & tins the next. We sometimes have a problem with maggots in the summer months & I think it's mostly from things like chicken carcasses/bones & leftover food that I can't compost - I don't have room in the freezer to keep waste until the next collection.
My mum who lives close by but in a different Council region has fortnightly too but also has a glass collection each week and a food scraps one every other week. Garden refuse is collected once a fortnight but on different days to other collections - but you are not allowed to put in dead shop-bought flowers or plants.0 -

Can I just add in what worked for me? Probably has already been mentioned but haven't time to read the whole thread.
BOILING WATER did the trick. I had tried different things like bleach, and other cleaners, but boiling water killed them all and they never came back.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

That's what I do - a couple of kettlefulls swished around & I add some Zoflora to keep it smelling sweet. But, I do it each time the household bin is emptied & still sometimes have problems with maggots.0
