Actually, best to do both - save up the money AND have a credit card for emergencies - after all, an ISA isn't much good when you need to pay a bill on the spot.Wouldn't you be better off setting some cash aside each month in a no-notice cash ISA or high interest savings account? Then you would have a £1000 emergency cash fund, which is free to use
