Invalid Boot/ini file

Hi everyone
Last night I plugged in a Medion Monitor Model MD7319TD.
It was a monitor I "inherited" from a friend.

I run Windows XP Pro on my system.

The monitor is working great......a big improvement on the old CRT monitor ........However.once I connected it to the computer the following appears Invalid Boot ini file, booting from C:Windows.
The computer works ok.....its just that annoying message at the start

Prior to installing the monitor my computer was 100%!

Any solutions?

Oh...do please remember I am a lady of a "certain age" so I would appreciate any instructions in the simpliest of terms......smiles.

Kind regards
Clare

It sounds as though your PC's boot.ini file may have become corrupted.

If you click Start, Run..., type "msconfig" and click Ok, then click on the boot.ini tab, it should show you the content of that file. You can click the "check all boot paths" to see if there is an error there, though (having never seen an error) I don't know if you get the option to correct any errors found.

    Hi Fwor
When I click on the boot.ini tab no data is showing in that window!
Then when I click on "check all boot paths" the following window appears
saying "System configuration utility has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Is there any FREE software that can simply scan the computer and fix the problem? I live in hope....smiles.

    Regards
    Clare

It might not be 100% all along, you see the old crt monitor takes time to warm up and also there could be another delay for the video signal to come through to the screen, hence you never saw it!!...now the new unit , a panel? is there straight away and displaying that error message!

It may sound like a huge task, but maybe you could restart by creating your own boot.ini file.

    Go to this link http://vlaurie.com/computers2/Articles/bootini.htm

It is quite a simplified run down of what you need to do. Don't be alarmed, it is as simple as opening Notepad and copy and pasting the commands over.
