Thanks for that A_Clock, that's a better idea from eBay, and I agree with that! It stands to reason that if you give someone a negative, they are going to give you one back!
I've been buying plants and seeds off eBay from private sellers and nursery's every spring and summer for the last nine years and haven't had any problems at all, I do recommend that you look at the sellers feedback though ..if they have a lot of negatives then don't buy from them! Like the others say on here, you will find over time that you will find sellers who are the most helpful and who you can trust so you can buy regularly from them with confidence! You will make friends along the way too, I know I have!! :cheesy:0 -

I chose them due to the range and variety of plants offered, as OP my garden was looking a little sad, so I have revamped it and it was in need of some colour.
I have to say their customer service is fantastic. Parcel went missing in the post (not their fault,) and some of the plants had unfortunatly withered and died (10 days for first class signed, come on RM!?!?). They had already offered to replace everything, and claim through RM, however they did turn up. But as it was a company, swanley village plants, they have offered to replace the plants that have died. I feel it would have been different had it been a private seller with limited stock.
Unfortunatley, with the parcel going missing I bought some replacements myself, I could not wait. I explained this to them and asked if the dead plants could be replaced with something else. the wonderful people there have said yes.
Due to this brilliant customer service I am a returning customer already buying 10 herb plants from a very wide and varied selection for 5.99, I have not seen these prices anywhere.
to top it off many of their plants are buy it now or make an offer, so I got most of my plants through the make an offer! and they combine postage to a max of 10 pounds
As usual, I have to stress that I have nothing to do with this company (it is based in kent, I live in Oldham), I am just a very happy customer, thoroughly recommend trying them.
Hey Louise! I bought two lots of 6 fuchsia's (Sir Matt Busby) from Pamb42 for my hanging baskets and they were in excellent health when they arrived and are still doing well! I would recommend them to everyone too..you won't be disappointed!
Perhaps we should start "a recommend" and "not recommended" on here if it's allowed?!!0 -
I buy plants and seeds from Ebay and, on the whole, I have been very pleased.
However, bear this in mind to avoid disappointment:
Wisteria needs to be quite mature before it flowers and takes off. Your plant may only be a couple of feet high when it arrives, so don't expect any flowers for three - five years, I'm afraid.
Look carefully at the photo and the description. (Pass it by if it's just a stock photo - you want to see the plant that you are actually buying). If it looks like a developing cutting then forget it. If it's under three feet tall then forget it.
Only buy if you are prepared to wait ....and wait .... and wait .......
I bought a Wisteria - it's strong, healthy and it was about two years old according to the description. Four years later and I think there might be flower buds on it - but I'm not holding my breath.
Good luck!0 -
I have bought loads of plants from Ebay, including imports from the USA, Asia and Europe without any issues. Just be sure the seller has good feed back and you should have no problems.0

Just want to comment on the ebay buying again. I bought 50 crowns of asparagus (shared the cost with work collegues) last year and planted them up. sprouted as usual and died back over winter. :j fantastic, this morning I can see one sprouting back up. really pleased as ther is thre or four crowns in a 80 litre bin with hole in the bottom. that way I can move them aroundThe sign of a wasted life is a tidy house, Welcome to the chaos!0 -

Just an addition, Wisteria will flower quite quickly if they are grafted(and therefore more costly) if its a seed raised variety then you could have a wait of up to 15 years. Check with the seller before bidding/buying.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
^^ My wisteria is 6 years old and has never had flowers.July Win: Nokia 58000

Can I assume that you bought one of the seed raised ones (usually £5--£8.00) if so I'm afraid you've got to be patient. If its grafted it might need a feed and then prune it in August/September. Prune the side shoots to 5 leaf joints and you should be ok.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
