Patio help please?

Hi, I'm stuck and thought someone here might have a solution regarding my patio.

The problem is that the previous owner was keen on his plants so he left big gaps in the patio - rectangular and circular - to plant them up. I want to fill them in so i can put my garden table somewhere!

I won't be able to match the current slabs, but how can i fill the holes to end up with a flat surface. I've ruled out filling them with stone because i will want to put my chairs on a stable surface, any other ideas?

thankyou, ;)

  • Concrete may be an ideal solution, can be made up in small batches as required and will perfectly fit the holes, you could colour it if the paturn in the patio ws even to make it a design feature
  • If you do concrete be sure to take out all vegetable soil and line hole with a liner to stop weeds taking root, then fill with concrete and as already stated by Unhappybunny79 you can colour to suit, ask at builders yard!

Or do completely different slabs in those areas, and make them a bit of a feature, i.e. if they are nice limestone, fill the holes with slabs of slate instead. More expensive than concrete, but would look much nicer.
  • You could try some block paving bricks which you can buy individually from most of the DIY stores & Wickes at about 28p each. You could then space them to infill minor gaps with gravel, which will probably not affect a chair leg. You could experiment on one hole for a very minor outlay.

Any chance of taking some pics so we can have a better look at your problem? :)
