Problems transferring MP3's to Nokia 6230
Didn't know whether to put this here or in the Techie Stuff.....
I'm trying to transfer MP3's using a USB cable. Managed to transfer two songs and now I get a message to say 'not enough space on the phone'. Still got the original 32MB card in the phone and no pics or videos stored at the moment. I downloaded the Nokia PC Suite from the Nokia site last week.
Does this sound right or am I doing something daft!
Phone memory shows:- Free 2.1MB Used 5.2MB
Memory card shows:- Free30.3MB Used 0.0MB
Can anyone help please???

sounds like you are trying to save it to your phone memory, you need to direct it to the memory card and save it on that0
-
much much easier to get a card reader (under £10) and just drag and drop mp3s pic etc onto the card0

Have looked in Settings but can't see a way of changing over the memory ...!
After doing a Google I saw something about the Nokia PC Suite not reading the MMC due to a general bug/fault in the system and that a way round it is to re-name the MMC.....
Oh well, Amazon, eBay here I come!!!

menu-gallery-highlight mem card then options and rename mem card0 -
i believe the problem is that anything you transfer (while the mem card is in the phone) will automatically go to the handset memory. the (inelegant) solution is to copy to phone as you were doing but each time you've copied over a song, manually move it onto the memory card and repeat the process. the better solution is as drahcir suggested to get card reader. word of warning though - i found that the covers on 6230's were a pain to get on and off and the more you did it the looser (read more annoying and rattly) they became.
I would also recommend converting any mp3's you want on the phone to .aac files (dbpoweramp is the converter software i use - it's free) as that will take up less space. additionally, if you want to use the songs as ringtones you may have issues if they are not stored on the handset memory as there can be delays while the phone searches the memory card for files - it doesn't affect everyone but i know several people who found that. (solution is to use chopped down snippets of 30 sec's or so and keep them on the handset memory)"Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first." Thanks smcicrYes I know what you mean about the covers
BTW...can iTunes convert mp3s to .aac files??♥♥♥ Genius - 1% inspiration and 99% doing what your mother told you. ♥♥♥0 -
Allexie, no wonder none of my PM's are getting answered, you've gone all techie.0

@Allexie - see here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/import.html I don't use itunes personally (have a Creative device and so software from that) but this indicates that itunes automatically converts to aac format when you import stuff into it. it does specifically say you can save (unprotected) WMA files to aac but i'd guess the answer is yes until someone clever tells me otherwise"Don't go around saying the world owes you a living.
