Hi,
I'm hoping for a bit of a pointer.
My car has been in the garage today to have a manifold nut replaced that had sheared off. The garage have told me that a nut is also missing on the lower manifold.
This means removing the cylinder head, replacing the gasket and skimming the head at a cost of about £700!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
My car is only worth about £1000 (98 S Vectra SRI Estate).
Do I need to get it fixed straight away or can I wait for a short while, driving it tonight it feels and sounds back to normal - it had a horrible rattle.
I'm asking as I need to save up to get it fixed as I'm on a DMP so don't have a credit card or any savings.
TIA
MDW

Personally on the sums you are talking I would leave it and keep fingers crossed.
On my old Merc my manifold is cracked but the feeling was that the bolts were so corroded that to attempt to remove them would result in a similar problem to yours. If its blowing try gun gum etc and pray.0
