Kaupthing Edge Non-linked Account Transfers

Options
If you have a Kaupthing Edge account and you have successfully transferred money to it from a non-linked account, what is the most you have transferred?

On Monday, I intend to transfer £35K either to my linked account then on to my Kaupthing Edge account; or try to transfer the £35K direct from my non-linked account.

So I need to make a decision.

THANKS

Most I've transferred from an un-linked account is £1,000. My initial transfer when closing a previous account was from a linked account, not sure I'd be brave enough to move £35,000 from an un-linked account. Knowing my luck, it'd get lost.

On another note, I've sent them a message to see if they're going to operate the "Faster Payment" system when it becomes effective in May. Haven't had an answer yet (usually takes them a couple of days or so before replies are received).

I sent 19k as an opening balance from a non linked account. I phoned them first and they said that it was ok as it was an opening transfer.

Had a reply from Kaupthing re my query as to whether or not they'll be introducing the Faster Payment system following its expected introduction in May. They have no plans to do so at present.
  • So, so far no-one has said if they have successfully transferred money from a non-linked account (excluding Wolf Mans as this was an opening balance) Edit:- sorry, 10_66 you said you transferred £1000 from an unlinked account OK. Anyone else?

I too would like to know as I have money I wish to move in and dont wish for it to get lost in the system for a few days while I juggle it through to the linked account.
  • After a recent email I sent to Kaupthing Edge, they have informed me that they WILL be using the Faster Payments system, however wouldn't confirm a date for this, and will notify customers closer to the time! They always have top class customer service! I only wish they had a current account...............

...and an ISA. Bring on the faster payments, can't wait for that either!

    Cheers,

I have, but only a test £1 and it was from an account in my name (not linked though).

If your linked account and the unlinked account uses the faster payment system, I'd probably just do the transfer to your linked account and then quickly to your unlinked account. 35k is a lot of wonga; I think I'd prefer the safest route!

  • I have found another thread where it was suggested that the Kaupthing Edge account would allow the transfer in from another (non-linked) account providing that it had the same account name as their own account holder.

This may explain why it works.

I'm curious as to how this works. I've tried paying an interest payment from a non-linked account £12.56 into my KPEdge savings account. The money has been deducted from the non-linked account but not yet shown in KP. I made the transfer 4 days ago, although it's gone through the weekend to. When would I expect to see this. If it doesn't turn up, will the money return to the non-linked account or will it be in limbo?

I transferred £7.8k and £8.5k with 2 different non-linked accounts in May and Jun with no problems.
