Halifax application quick question

Hello,
I've just been accepted for an Halifax 0% on BT for 15 months :j. I've also been accepted for an Egg Money card that I should receive any day now. So, ready soon for a stooze BT. Halifax sent me paperwork (credit agreement) to sign before sending me the card, but no mention of the credit limit. Is it better to call them now to discuss my credit limit before signing the paperwork or just wait for my card as it would not make any difference?
Cheers
Philippe

Some HBOS credit agreements have your credit limit secreted in the 'for office use only' area at the foot of page 3 (or 4?) of 8.
It'll read something like "5623 6777733-899926 6100" and the last 4 digits signify your credit limit...in this case it would be £6,100.
You can either ring now and ask for an increase (or a particular limit), or ask during the activation call, but my experience (over 5 or 6 HBOS cards) hasn't been positive.
Don't forget to do your sums on the BT profit (www.stoozing.com/calc.htm) to see if it's worth your while, bearing in mind the alternative would be a 6/9(?) month slow-stooz.0 -
Thanks YorkshireBoy,
No, nothing like this number, although I have a "For Bank Only" area containing the (isolated) number "6400". Could be... that would be worth doing it. I might choose to actually use the balance transfer differently, as a way to spread the cost of some home improvement for 15 months...0 -
I was in the same situation - called Halifax and they were able to tell me my limit before I signed up. Just waiting for my card now.
It did take two phone calls. Advisor 1 told me they would wait until I'd returned the letter before searching my credit file and setting a limit. As I had the credit file in front of me with the time and date of the Halifax search he conceeded he might be wrong and asked me to call back and speak to someone in the applications team.
I have a feeling the standard credit limit is around 6200 or 6400 - I got something like that and the advisor said it was a normal limit.0 -
that's a high normal limit!!!:eek:Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 784 - Proud to be dealing with my debts0

Yup - I have to say I was a bit stunned when the advisor said somehting along the lines of "your limit is the set at the standard 6ish K". A friend in the office got just over 6K as well. All good news for me - it can cover all my purchases for 10 months without me maxing the card.0

Evening!
Apologies for dragging this up from the depths!! I've also been accepted for a Halifax card. I won't get a chance to call to find my limit until next week.
Can anyone confirm if the number below "Bank Use Only" is indeed the credit limit? It's just mine says 9300 and I'm quite excited! Was only looking for 2500 to make a cheeky shuffle.. if it is 9k then I can put all my remaining cc debt on one card for 15 months
cheers in advance.0 -
