Free Estate Agency Service

A new website has been launched under which estate agents will compete against each other for homeowners' business.
Sellers using the Estate Agency Fees Direct website fill out a form giving details on their property, which is then circulated to up to 10 local estate agents.
Estate agents then produce a quote for the fees they would charge to sell the property, as well as any additional services they provide, such as producing a Home Information Pack.
Homeowners can then select the agent whose quote they like most.
The free service can be accessed at www.estateagencyfeesdirect.com.
Found this info at the bottom of the following link about more people checking their house prices http://money.aol.co.uk/money-news/more-people-checking-value-of-homes/article/20080424103509990014
Hope you may find this useful.

Phew, let's just hope it's of some use now as I had a quick look at the home page, but haven't actually tried it!

Choosing an estate agent purely on price can be dangerous.
Are they going to accurately value your property?
Are they going to want a 20 week sole agency tie in?
What will they do to check the buyer can actually afford to buy your property?
How far will they follow up and make sure the transaction proceeds once set up?RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -

Tried one or two towns I know and find a very short list of all the agents I know of in that town.A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. In latter part of career specialising in commercial - mostly business sales.0 -

There are links on the site to allow you to get an idea of valuation before approaching estate agents which you should use as an informed guide upon receiving any quotes.
site does allow you to also define your preferred terms of doing business including lock-in period
As with other comparison sites, its not just down to price but reputation.
Hopefully this site will assist sellers in choosing the right agent and, as MSE.com advises, help seller 'haggle' to get the right price.

HiTried one or two towns I know and find a very short list of all the agents I know of in that town.
we have only just launched this week and with 1/3 of the Estate Agents in UK. We are presently running a campaign for the rest.
It should be noted that we will never restrict site listings to a preferred 'panel' of Estate Agents and as such offer a free listing to all of them to participate.
