long shot this , my 75 yearold parents live in their own house, their central heating system has now broken down , it was fitted over 20 years ago,
they now have to have a complete new system , including new boiler and new rads as the old ones are now illegall !!!.
they have to shell out 6,500 grand
can they claim a rebate being pensioners ,or get a grant towards the cost ,
any info would be great ,
many thanks

£6500 grand  do they live in a mansion ??janiebaby29 wrote:they have to shell out 6,500 grand
I take it this was a British Gas quote then ???
My gran had her whole central heating done with a grant.
Can't give you a name of an organisation just yet......gran's gone to bed !
There are various local council initiatives. Not sure where you are ?
Post up your location and locals to the area will be able to direct you further.

You can get a government grant if your boiler is over 20 years old, if they are on benefits or a low income they should be entitled to a grant.
You can get a new boiler if your old one ifs buggered but if they have no central heating at all? Then they will get a full system.
I got my father in law a new boiler from the government grand and they are retired now, also my uncle got a full central heating system and didn’t pay a penny.
Get in touch with the local council and ask them about the government grant for central heating, they can also get insulation and free energy saving light bulbs as well.I'm not poor i'm just skint0 -
oh sorry they live in essex, harlow to be precise.
is 6.500 grand a lot then ? trouble is a lot of companies are too busy to take on more work , no its not british gas , its a local company who can do it in 2 weeks time , the old heating system is very old and parts of it are illegal , hence that they need every thing done. thanks for posting so farThe original janiebaby
