Building Survey - what should it in include?

Hi there
I am hoping that I can get some help with regards Building Surveys from the more seasoned home buyers on here. I am not very experienced in this regard.
I am applying for a mortgage through First Direct and as such, I decided to get a full Building Survey done - which for anyone who is appying through FD will know costs in excess of £1,000. The property was built in the 1920s and has had a fair bit of extension work done, as well as has a small tiny river flowing behind it - so I didn't want to take any chances and decided to invest in the highest survey on offer - which really is quite expensive compared to the prices I have seen quoted by other lenders. However in the interests of speeding up the process I decided not to go with my own independent surveyor but with the one chosen by FD.

With regards the survey report, I am quite disappointed to see that there are a lot of references to the fact that I should "get stuff checked by a specialist - eg in reference to the roof, the services etc. I was of the understanding that these should be included in the Full Survey - isn't it called a Full Structural Survey - or is that something different?

Also there is no mention in the report of the valuation of the property, which I find quite strange as well, because surely the Mortgage company would need to see that. I went to the RICS website and it states that the Building Survey does not include the valuation of the property. I find it rather strange that a survey that costs so much more than the basic valuation wouldnt include everything that the basic and homebuyers reports include plus a whole lot more.

The RICS website also says that a Building Survey should include an estimation of any works recommended - however my survey report does not include any estimated costs of recommended works. Am I in my rights to go back to the surveyor and ask them for one?

Should I take the advice and get more specialists to check the roof, services etc as recommended? i.e shell out more money up front? I thought the survey would include things like that....

Thanks in advance for your help.
A Very confused first time house buyer......
