monesupermarket vs quidco - numbers dont add up
Been looking at changing the gas and electric over for the inlaws, have found that going through moneysupermarket.com I can save them 259.44 with Scottish Power and get the £30 cashback (£289.44 total). Being a member of quidco I got them to sign up as quidco members and looked at going through that way as Scottish Power have a £72 cashback offer on 'til sunday. on the same tarrif with the same details this gave a saving of £171.12 = £72 = £243.12. when what i was expecting was the £72 on top of the 259.44 so (£331.44)
Can anyone explain the £88 difference - this raises the question that other options through money supermarket.com might be better if the calculations they are estimating or wrong?

Then go direct to the energy suppliers sites look up the unit prices and work out how much each supplier will cost u based on its actual prices and your actual usage. Before u actually sign up for a cashback clear cookies before going back to the cashback site.0 -
Steve1981,
I have just done a quick check on the Scottish Power website and see no discrepancy between the two sites.
We strive to ensure all our users receive a true and accurate comparison of the market so if you could get back to me with the details you used I'd be able to look in to this further.
All the information within our calculator is provided directly by the energy providers themselves and is checked on a daily basis.
I hope you found the right product and managed to save money for the in-laws.
Kind regards,
