Don't know which card I should try....

Hi guys,
I currently earn about £20K and used to have no outstanding balance until about a year ago when my car died and I HAD to get another one.
Since then I have accumulated about £4K debt
about the limit - I don't have a loan on the car though)
Anyway, my 0% period on both Barclaycard and Egg have just finished and I need a new card that can last me for 9-12 mth so that I have a bit of space to clear my balance in about a year.
I remember I only have ONE missing payment on my Egg as I switch bank and surprise surprise they didn't move the DD in time.
I tried Virgin and Capital One about 6-7 months ago and got rejected. Don't know why as I didn't and don't have either Capital One or MNBA cards but I was not fussed about another card really.
So, which card should I try to get a BT and have more chance to get accepted?
Many thanks in advance.
Regards,
Tabasco

If you gave Egg and your new bank adequate notice (bearing in mind that it generally takes at least 14 days to change DD details) regarding your change of bank account and DD's, you are covered by the DD guarantee and Egg/your new bank should reimburse you. However, the damage is done to your credit file now. If you are successful in claiming it was their fault you can/they can put a note on your credit file to say so.Tabasco wrote:I remember I only have ONE missing payment on my Egg as I switch bank and surprise surprise they didn't move the DD in time.
Then why apply and waste a credit search, and appear 'desperate for credit' to other future lenders?Tabasco wrote:I tried Virgin and Capital One about 6-7 months ago and got rejected. You first need to obtain copies of your credit history file* to see what's going on and what other lenders will see when they search you. You can then take any action required before (possibly) wasting another credit search.Tabasco wrote:So, which card should I try to get a BT and have more chance to get accepted?
*I've recently obtained mine (£2 basic reports), and from completing the online forms at https://www.experian.co.uk and https://www.equifax.co.uk to the reports arriving by post took 4 days - and one of those was a Bank Holiday!0 -

I don't think the OP is going to look desparate for credit if his last application was 6-7 months ago!!0 -
I agree, but I was questioning the reason for 2 card applications when the OP was "not fussed about another card really"M_Thomson wrote:I don't think the OP is going to look desparate for credit if his last application was 6-7 months ago!!
My "future lenders" comment was not intended to mean 6-7 months later, but more if any applications were made in the next month or two when he/she might have really needed an acceptance.0
