£50 camera at Asda, as advertised on tv.

Is this 'cheap' camera any good and suitable (ie.straightforward!) for someone who last took a photo in the days of 35mm rolls of film?
I can't find it on the Asda site but I think it's this one that is on Jessops site

I put it in 'Grabbit' because the reduced price ends on Sunday. I'm going to have a look at this one not that I 'need' a camera!
    Thanks for your opinion.

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Name Dropper Combo Breaker
When i was in Asda earlier collecting my Wii, i noted a lot of cameras had been discounted.
I didn't get a good luck at them unfortunatley.
My suggestion is to give your local store a ring and ask someone on the photo desk what models they have and the prices.
You can then reseach online which is most suited to you ;)

Btw I don't know anything about cameras - just point and shoot lol
  • i picked up a booklet from tesco, and they have a 12megapixel camera for 79 pounds was £199
i might get this one instead because of the saving, but then again i might not because im scared of breaking it.

I would not call this a cheapo camera. £100 at Jessops, plus Fuji is a top make. Excellent first digital at Asdaprice.

    Main Features include:
    • 7.2 MegaPixel CCD
    • Fujinon 3X Zoom non-extending lens
    • 2.5" LCD
    • One-touch Face Detection Technology with Auto Red Eye Removal
    • Picture Stabilization Technology
    • Up to ISO 1600 at full resolution
    • Blog Mode copies images for easy e-mail & web sharing
    • Movie mode records with sound at 30fps
    • IrSimple™ for fast wireless image transfer
    • New Ultra-compact form w/ tripod mount

Another thread on hotukdeals is with regard to this:
    http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/174820/fuji-f480-camera-8-2mp-4-x-optical-/
Worth reading the thread - it may be the one, although it appears to suffer from grainy images

Tesco's £79.99 camera (Technika 10 or 12 mp) is not as good as it looks. The menu is very basic and looks like childrens toy. I bought 1 for my cousin last month for £35 from Tesco (Technika 7mp) and its rubbish.

If you're after a digi camera then get a good branded one with Lithium Ion - Rechargeable battery.
  • Went with my sister to buy one of these - although unable to download it to her pc (didn't have time) ... build, menu layout and screen was excellent. Reckon its worth a look !

The one problem I have found with Fuji Finepix cameras (and I have owned 3) is that the shutter lag on them is terrible. Ok if you only want to take photos of things that are standing still but flippin' annoying if it's moving!
