Virgin Train/Mobitix

Options
Has any one else had problems using their cards to purchase tickets on mobitix website?

I have reccently discovered that whenever i enter my payment details into the website the payment always fails returning error code 101.

When i have contacted Virgin Trains about the problem they directed me to The Trainline who then say its a Virgin problem and put me back intouch with Virgin who then get snooty with me and say its got nothing to do with them even though i'm travelling on their train and they advertise the cheap fares on their own website and link you to the mobitix site.

When you finally find the right people to speak to they told me that i must be entering incorrect billing details. This isn't the case. As i'm directly copying the information from my cards and bank statements.

I'm really infuriated with this, has anyone else had a simmilar problem and got a solution? I just don't think Virgin or The Trainline care.

did u try the trainline and virgin booking system? altho they use the same system...
  • I've been trying to use http://www.mobitix.thetrainline.com/vt/advancePurchase.aspx
I have successfully used this site in the past but reccently its not worked for.

I travel to London several times a month to visit my girlfriend, so these cheap deals are really good for me. Unfortunatley i'm having to buy the standard Value Advance tickets off the virgin trains website.
  • Like you, I was getting the error message, therefore I contacted thetrainline.com, who asked me to check all of my mandatory detail fields..I was adamant I had entered all the relevant info...however there were some fields that hadn't been entered therefore my advice would be retry as your eyes [well certainly mine] can deceive!!..

I found thetrainline helpful and efficient in sorting out my issue...

Give it another try, good luck!...
  • It looks like this problem has reared it's head again. Trainline have just extended their bookings to 7th November. Obviously they haven't learned from past mistakes since this error is again occuring when customers enter their Credit Card details. They have also dropped the print@home service.
    regards,

  • Ordered MobiTix tickets Friday 4pm - still not arrived. Virgin closed their After Sales Support Centre 8pm Friday, although recorded message says they are open 8am to 10pm weekdays and 11am to 7pm Sat/Sun Have also stopped answering the phone at Customer Relations. Travelling to London Wednesday, think I may drive!!! Great customer service from Virgin! Is this the real cost of cheap travel.

I have booked some tickets to travel tomorrow and they haven't arrived to my phone either.

However if I check my account it says the ticket has failed even though it is booked. I got the test ticket fine though.

Has anyone else had this error this weekend? Sounds like you may have niki?
  • Exactly same. Spent ages on phone today. Just keep telling me to ring back later. Now been on hold for 28 minutes. Noticed they have finally closed the site but now can't check the status of my tickets in my account. Got a feeling they may have disappeared! Spoke to Customer Relations Dept this morning but they didn't seem interested. If Virgin didn't have a monopoly on this line from Manchester to London wouldn't ever use them again. No wonder people won't get out of their cars and use public transport.

    Niki,

I am in the same boat. Over the weekend I booked a ticket and it 'failed'. Phoned Virgin who just said try again, so I kept trying and they all 'failed'. Turns out the website was broken, but they fixed it this morning and I bought a ticket at around 4 which came through to my mobile fine.

The kicker is that the money still comes out of your account for all the failed tickets. Ha! The apply for refund button has the cheek to demand a percentage of the cost as an administration fee... yeah right!

Am currently on hold with Virgin but will post something if I turn up anything handy. Keep us all posted.

  • Usual Virgin customer service, they have closed their After Sales Support Centre early again at 9pm instead of 10pm! Decided to be a gas guzzling polluter and drive to London. Anyone know of any cheap parking places near to UCL hospital on Euston Road or should I ask Virgin?
  • Found out this morning that the so called failed transactions on Mobitix at The Trainline have been debited from my credit card. I am still waiting to achieve successful download for my return tickets. I have downloaded my outward tickets (2 people) but they are both allocated the same seat. Phoned Mobitix (in India) and they told me this wasn't a problem. I am still fighting to get the money credited to my card. I am still waiting for tickets. The Trainline support is non existent. Why get rid of print@home? Probably because of the charge to download the tickets. I'm not looking forward to seeing my telephone and mobile bills.
