Ubuntu 8.04 (Hard Heron) Released

Just got the official annoucement from Ubuntu.

There are plenty of UK mirrors with it. Oh and download it via a torrent if you can. Spread the love :)

    Going 64-bit on my main pc too. Need to figure out how to get Flash working though on a 64-bit build. Damn Adobe!

    does anyone know if the new verison supports the 8600GT graphics card for booting ubuntu from disk? i want to know this because the old verison didn't.

    Erm, I'll let you know in about 30mins. I installed via the "Alternate" disc (which doesn't have a graphical interface). Just about to burn the normal install disc, so can see if it works with my 8600GT.

    I thought Feisty would have worked with your 8600GT. nVidia are generally very good with Ubuntu. Might have been because at the time it was a new generation of card.

    Yep works out of the box. No problems at all.

    I've tried this from the Live CD and I've got to say the KDE desktop looks much more pleasing to the eye if you're coming over from Windows than Gnome, so if anyone is tempted go for Kbuntu.
