Accidentally painted silk on new plaster, best way forward?

Afternoon.
I made a textbook error by doing the miscoat onto newly skimmed walls with silk paint (albeit watered down probably 50-60% water). Being a complete fool when it comes to anything DIY I only checked the paint tin and realised elsewhere.
What's the best way forward for the next couple of coats? Should I go back to matt or carry on with silk?
Cheers

Depends on what finish you want, matt wont go over the silk, it will bubble/flake/peel.
You have a few of choices, you can either sand like mad to get the shine off.
You can scrape all the silk off with a long handled scraper.
Oryou can buy some soft sheen paint, apply that over the silk, then wait a few days then you can apply your matt, making sure you sand between coats.
OrMy favourite tried and tested method, oilbased undercoat, thinned down with white spirit, just to make life easier for you to apply, leave for a couple days, then apply your matt.
Perhaps NickJ and phil who are decorators also might be able to suggest something else.
But for what its worth, IMO, I always go for the undercoat method, its never failed me yet.:D0 -
i would leave it - the biggest problem is letting the moisture out of the new plaster - it cant get through all silk paints (so I am told). so you could ruff it up and then paint mtt onto it - again avoid vinyl paints as well as theyhave the same effect. OR, you could use a product called TSP which removes paint from walls - but its not easy to get hold of.0
