Saved a fortune on house insurance

Well how about this for a result. Having followed the tips on this board I decided to see if I could get my house insurance cheaper. I was paying £1000 a year for my buildings and contents. I managed to find another insurer that offered me £330 a year for the same policy with less of an excess. I went back to my original insurer and told them this. They said they would see if they could get a better price for me and came out with £600.
It made me think then that if they could come up with that figure, why had I been paying £1000 a year for 3 years. I said I wanted to make a complaint and I was put through to the complaints department who said they would consider the issue and let me know. In the meantime I changed to the insurer who was offering me the lesser premium.
I was sure they would come up with a story as to why they had to charge me what they had for the last 3 years but lo and behold I received a letter yesterday telling me that they were refunding me £1200 for overpayments!!
As I said, what a result.

Well done, thats fantastic.
Just shows what asking can do. I sometimes think we are so afraid to look cheeky that we miss out on saving ourselves money.
You must be very pleased with yourself.0 -
