I used to use first direct, I found their text service really useful. I wasn't impressed with FD starting charging on the texts - that was why I joined them in the first place - texts to tell me what was going on regularly!
I've now opened an alliance & leicster current account instead - £75 bonus credit -can't be beaten!
Thanks MoneySavingExpert for the A&L suggestion - my mum got £50 for "recommending" me too!Indecision is the key to flexibility

Gave first direct a sob story about how much business I do with them etc and they have waived the text message charges.
Worth a try if you have more than one account with them?
