setanta sports text me asking me to phone them back?

Hi, I wonder if anyone has had any experience of this.

I received two texts (22-04-08 at 17:04 and 23-04-08 17:07) which read
'Dear Customer, Can you please contact Setanta sports on 08712 00 44 06. it is urgent that we speak to you regarding your account. Thanks - Setanta sports" - The number it is sent from is 08712 004 405'

I'm wondering if this is some kind of scam. Surely if they have my number to text me they can phone me to ask whatever they need to. I've never had any company texting me to ask me to phone them back. I thought initially this has to be a scam but having read up about setanta on this forum I am wondering whether it is or not.

I sent them an e-mail through their webpage this morning asking if this is a con or a legitimate text, haven't heard anything back yet. If I do I'll post the reply.

Any help or similar experience/advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Farhan

    Hello mate.
    Hope this helps
This happened to me a few weeks ago, I called Setanta (08712 003322) and it appears that my credit card had expired and this is an automated reminder service.

Im really pleased they did this or I would have missed the Boxing the other week.

    Thanks Setanta for your help

What a pity they see fit to use Premium Rate 0871 numbers (and therefore take a cut of the cost of the call) though.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
