Good morning all,
I think I am being screwed over by southern electric.. however i seem to notice some errors with money supermarket...
Last week I made a guesstimate and the the website said British Gas can save me £350/year. however when I entered the correct details it showed exactly the same saving.
My question is this. Im living in london, last year i was paying £40/month for elec and £40/month for gas.. now im paying £48/month for elec and £125/month for gas !!
That I cannot afford... I still have £200 outstanding on gas to pay!
my useage actually shouldnt have gone up because i have just spent a fortune putting in things such as condensing boiler, energy A rated applicances, turning off lights etc, turning down heating.
the gas i am appauled at.. they have not told me that there is nearly 200% increase in rates.
here are the numbers
Gas. it says i have used between october 2007 and 31 march 2008 19956 units of gas.. is that alot? at 2.210p each? that seems alot!!!
and now the rate has gone up to 2.5p for 358.91 kWh from 1st april to 8th april
is that right?
The electricty i dont mind so much as i have recently installed some hallogen lights (sorry house is so dark we need this.. tried energy saving lamps.. still suffereng from SAD
)
What supplier should I change to?
PLEASE HELP!!!

Presumably some of the £125 gay payment is going to pay off the debt built up by paying a low DDlast year?
Have you read the meter yourself? Sometimes bills come stating "actual reading" (so you assume a meter read has been and read) but don't take this a read.
HTH
MPI have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.

Gas seems high at 125 a month, are you paying off an existing debt?
Companies can assign a debt to be repaid over 12 months (assuming you're not in fuel poverty).
A jump from 40 is almost unimaginable. Have you contacted SSE to ask why?
Bearing in mind all prices have gone up around 15% from last year the elec looks right for a standard 3-bed (not on a fixed rate tariff)It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.
Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.0 -

The reason your DD for gas is so high is because of this debt. Clear the debt and it will be lowered. You would have to do this anyway if you switched companies.here are the numbers

I assume you mean 19956kwh of Gas, this seems very high for only 6 months gas. In fact this is nearly an average yearly consumption!!and now the rate has gone up to 2.5p for 358.91 kWh from 1st april to 8th april
is that right?
Is the 2.5p your higher tier charge or do you have a standing charge? If you have the two tiers then you are charged a higher rate for the first 1143kWh in a quarter then the rest of the quarter is charged at the lower rate. If you have a standing charge this the 2.5p will be your rate period. What supplier should I change to?
PLEASE HELP!!!
What you need to do is find out your annual consuption for gas and electricity. Find out exactly what your unit rates are and any discounts that may be applied. If you do decide to switch suppliers remember, you will have to clear the debt first so make sure your in a position to do so.

ok... basically... last year I had £300 credit...
the debt keeps rising...
I think something is wrong.. thats a massive amout of gas!!!!!
I certainly dont use that much0 -
Have you got a leak?
Read your meter, then read it daily for a few days and really monitor actual amount usedEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0
