Who'd be the Cheapest Courier? (Item going to Dublin).

Hi Guys, anyone know who'd be the cheapest courier to use?

I'm sending someone in Dublin a Boxset Dvd (around 1kg in weight).

I normally use MHdirect Couriers but don't think they deliver to Southern Ireland.

Cheapest i've been quoted so far is £15 DHL @ Interparcel.

Thanks for all advice/info.

Can you track Airsure online?....does it just not track to point of departing the UK?

"We track all Airsure® items until they leave the UK and then the item is handed over to the destination country's postal service as a priority item"

Sounds just as useless as International Signed For Delivery, in other words once it leaves the UK they loose all contact and the thing could be in Guatemala.

It has to be insured for £50 & according to R.Mail calculator, it will be £15.37 via Airsure.

I doubt if you will do better than the PO for such a light item. Small packet airmail is 6.11 pounds airmail small packet for 1kg and slightly less by surface. You do not need to pay for Airsure if it is worth less than 36 pounds - free certificate of posting is all you need.

    It's worth £45, so i'd need Airsure i'm afraid......and i wouldn't chance sending it Small Pkt.

I'll keep looking, but i'll probably end up sending it via DHL using Interparcel.

Thanks anyway for all for the advice.

Decided to stick with Royal mail (Airsure), as Interparcel's quote was before VAT was added.

Make sure you ask for Airsure Small Packets this is £12.51 including insurance up to £500. Put an airmail sticker on and write small packet under it. I don't know why RM have a standard airmail and a small packet airmail but the standard is always more expensive? Perhaps Custardy could answer this one? Takes 2 working days with online delivery confirmation.

    1Kg with £36 insurance: £9.61
    1Kg with upto £500 Insurance: £11.81
