Reminds me of Ross from FRIENDS TV Show.....
"You ate my sandwich....."
on series note... wrapping in a carrier bag should work.0 -
I used to have this problem - And I did exactly as advised. I made a load of cakes - put LOADS of laxatives in them.
Asked everyone not to touch them as they were for my grandad.
Of course at the end of the day 9 out of 12 were gone. I acted all upset that people had taken them and everyone said it was a terrible thing and who ever would do that etc etc
"I know" I said "And now my Grandad won't get his daily laxatives"
Cake ingredients: £2.00
Time taken: 30 min
Their faces when they realised they had eaten laxative covered cakes: PRICELESS :rotfl:Debts: Gym £[strike]465.75[/strike] Student account [strike]£1039.88[/strike] Overdraft [strike]£129.00[/strike] Credit Card [strike]£2772.22[/strike] Loan [strike]£6222.01 [/strike]

Chap in my office puts red (postal) rubber bands around the items that are his.
Seems to work - it clearly marks them as his, and you have to remove the band to open the items.
Not that theft is a problem in our fridge, tends to be the opposite, lots of food in there but nobody eating it - I have to clear out-of-date stuff occasionally. At the last count, there were more than 10 tubs of butter & margerine in the fridge, for an office of 20 people!:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

I don't think subtlety will work with some of these low-lifes (if they nick your food, what else will they do?)
Personally, I'd do a combination of labels, rubber bands etc, and a big sticky label saying " Keep your *************** thieving hands off my food. " Or make it known that you have a good idea who the culprits are, you are keeping your eyes on them, and boy will they be sorry when you report them!!0 -
things like marg containers easiest thing is to write your name clearly on the tub just keep one on your desk lets people clearly know its yours
if it still happens go for one of the evil suggestions or a chilled lunchboxYes Your Dukeiness

Can I just point out that putting something in food to deliberately cause someone harm is a criminal offence.
The fact that that they should not have stolen it will be no defence.
A friend of mine got a very heavy fine when a burglar cut them selves on the broken glass he'd put on top of his garden wall to prevent burglaries.
If you want to prevent your food from being stolen the best thing would be to make sure it is clearly marked with your name and difficult to get into.
The reason is the thief doesn't want to hang around and be caught stealing food. He/she wants to be "in and out" as quick as possible. If they've got to may wrappers to get through, too much string to untie, or elastic bands to get off they will go for an easier target.0 -

If someone was stealing my food I would have no qualms about giving them "The Trots".
It would be put down as food poisoning.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -

Just a thought - if you put stuff in the food and a sign saying "This is mine hands off" or similar - then if someone took and ate said food it could be argued that you had done nothing deliberately to harm them. In fact you had warned them to keep away.0
