Loop Hole in Fuel Card - 2p less on fuel
Options
This may be worth a look - there's a new equestrian fuel card that's just come out.
It's by an equestrian breakdown provider and it’s supposed to be for horse owners, but apparently there’s a loop hole because you don’t actually need to own horses to apply for one.
That means that anyone can get hold of this card and they get 2p per litre less that the average national fuel price.
You can normally only have a fuel card if you’re a business but this one is for private individuals.
The company is called Equestrian Support Services.
I think it's £25 for the card if you're not a member of theirs– but if you do a lot of miles you could probably save a fair bit more than that (they've put a calculator on the site).

You would need to put in 1250 litres/274 gallons to break even. It would take you approximately 8250 miles in a car doing 30MPG to recoup the cost of the card. If your car does more than that, it'd take longer. In my Mondeo, it would take my entire annual mileage to recoupe the £25. Over 25000 miles, I'd save £25.
Thanks for the headsup but the reason it's aimed at Equestrians is because many of them use lorries doing 10MPG or less and therefore the £25 would be recouped quite quickly.0 -
That's a point, but if you have 2 or 3 cars in your family, it would work out at a good deal. The card is registered to the person not the vehicle.0

You have to PAY for this fuel card?! And all you're gonna get is supermarket priced fuel
Funnily enough I had a salesman from a fuel card co on the phone 20min ago, he asked where I normally filled up and I told him morrisons, he said there was no point in him trying to get me to sign up as they wouldn't even be able to match that price0 -
Asda's credit card gives you 2p/litre off their fuel. Set up a direct debit to pay it off in full each month and you're laughing.0

Likwise Barclaycards Platinum Cashback will but not with the limitations of the Asda one. Buy at any supermarket petrol station and you get 2% off which is worth more than 2p/l now and you also get cashback on all purchases.0
