Like our :money:, I am a bit of a nerd, both in terms of numbers and techie stuff (just take a look at my photo in the Arms and you'll see what I mean). So, I've been keeping track of how much I've spent on purchases and received as cashback from shopping online using shopbots and a cashback site, and working out the average percentages.
So far, I'm running at about an 8% average cashback rating - which is about double what the best cashback credit card offers at the moment. I've also got a bmi/MBNA Amex rewards credit card to get miles towards flights, again a Martin suggestion to look at.
I think I'm doing OK, but I know I can do better - and that's my challenge for 2008, more cashback, better deals, and spend less money!0 -
Whilst I accept the fact that celebrities are used to give variety and make the programme entertaining, I can't help thinking that Martin spends far too long "chatting" to the celeb and ends up with too little time to discuss their money matters! Concentrate, man, concentrate.
I would suggest that a "celeb wallet workout" combined with a chat could be made into a half-hour programme all on its own. Or dropped. Don't mind which, I don't actually watch for the celeb bit. (£80 cashback on insurance, thankyou very much!):heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

:rotfl: Apart from Martins stubbly face in some of the recorded shots, It was another great show. I'm sure lots of people will be checking out the cashback sites.
Another thing Martin could have mentioned was mysupermarket, the comparison site for food shopping online, which compares the prices of your online shop. I've found it very useful myself, and saved quite a lot of money at the end of the shop by doing some swaps. You also get rewarded ipoints for how much money you spend. Time probably didn't permit any more though.
I thought Chico's part was wasted because of the chit chat etc. Martin could only give a guestimation of the savings he could make.................................... MSE MARTIN LEWIS ... :A ... THANK YOU.......................0 -
hi folks,
Ill be honest, chico was a tough one, as he admitted before his wife does all of his finances and he really couldnt answer many of the questions - so i deliberately chatted more and wallet work outed less

It might have had something to do with the £1 Hotel rooms going on sale at 7pm tonight though!(And being linked in today's email.)
Watched the show and found it enjoyable (although already cashback tarting!)0 -

My wife watched the programme for first time tonight and thought it was a bit rushed. Thinks it could do with 1 hour slot to better explain things.
Must admit I beet the Leona Lewis CD challenge £4.93 at Asda (now OOS) but only £5 in store. Never showed up on shop bots i checked. Sometimes it actually pays to check the store sites themselves0 -
The Leona Lewis CD challenge was not comparing like with like.
The version sold on the HMV website is the official UK version. The cheaper versions found on Kelkoo are grey imports from outside Europe and do not have the same number of tracks on the CD.0
