Can i get this anywhere for free

    Not as far as I know. It's commercial software so you won't find it anywhere (legally) for free. OEM version will be much cheaper (although must be bought with hardware).

    There was an AOL anti virus going around some months ago that used the Kaspersky engine and updates from Kaspersky. It was free to download from AOL however they pulled it for a McAfee version. Not sure how that is doing though.

    Try trawling the net for a copy of the old version, with a simple hack you can get free updates from Kaspersky. (I got rid of it though for NOD32 - the best AV program to grace my computer)

    EDIT: It was called Active Virus Shield - was very good to be honest

    EDIT: I have the original installer - I will try uploading it somewhere and will get back to you if successful

    As foofi22 says, AOL's offering of Kaspersky has been pulled (shame!).

    I'm now using AVG free version which I'm fairly happy with.

    You can always use the free online virus scan from kaspersy's site- but it doesn't remove anything -you must note what it finds and manually delete

    You need a serial number for it for activation, i tried this as i have the installer but unfortuantly u still need serial. Get an OEM version from Scan.
