I am buying a house and my IFA has said a homebuyers survey will be £660. Is this a fixed price or can I shop around?

You are perfectly entitled to commission your own survey as long as your lender doesn't insist on you using one of their panel surveyors (some do!). If they are happy for you to use your own surveyor then go the RICS website www.rics.org 'Find a Surveyor' and contact a few in your area for comparative quotes.0
