diluted bleach 50/50 with warm water , scrub and leave to soak. works a treat and is very cheap
    Nice to save.
  • Duplicate post sorry - see below!
  • For all those who have used a KARCHER to clean patio's. I wonder if you use just water. Would anyone recommend the tablets that go in the hose? Or anything else that make a difference and makes the job easier?

I clean my patio in October and March, but have only ever used water, but have often wondered about using Jeyes or something else to assist. I have a cat so don't really want to use bleach.

    Thanks in advance.
  • Jeyes Fluid is a powerful disinfectant not a cleaner. I'd get a long hose and use a jet washer with plain water. Done it plenty of times and you don't pollute the neighbouring soil with bleach or other nasty products.

If you use a pressure washer on concrete or reconstituted stone you will remove the hard outer coat. This will cause the frost and dirt to get in easier than it did the first time - you will then have to clean them more and more often !

You are OK on (most) natural stone.
  • Interesting. What about terracotta tiles?

    Man made - same applies.
  • Get a deck scrubbing brush with a long handle you can get one for about £5 in garden centes and DIY shops.

Fill a bucket with water, add a generous splodge of household bleach ( to kill the algae ) also add a generous splodge of washing up liquid, to help lift of the dirt and grime.

Scrub the slabs then rinse of the suds and blach with fresh water they will come up pretty good.

I did mine last week, but a word of warning .... wear some gloves I got some cracking blisters on my hands becasue I wasnt wearing any, but have very nice clean patio :-D
