my daughter will be a 2nd year uni next year and we have just completed the loan/grant applications for 08/09,as my wife and i are on iincome supprt she gets the maximun amounts, however earlier this year she got some compo from being knocked over by a car,on the application we have estimated that her income from this will be approx £300 interest, the question is will the £7000 capital or the small amount of interest make any difference to her grants etc next year,we are still on I/S
thanks
John

The daughter has to write her own income when applying, which obviously includes interest. As long as she doens't earn loads in a year (the £300 is fine, I put £2000 and didn't make a difference but I am not income assessed) it should be ok.0

I believe the form will ask what will be earned during 08/09 rather than what was received in the past. Technically the £300 expected interest should go on the form but it is unlikely to make any difference if your income is well below the threshold. If it is listed her assessment will probably be provisional and she will have to send her bank statements as evidence of interest received at the end of the academic year.0
