Home insurance joint application with mortgage company

Hi, as part of my mortgage i have to have buildings cover on my new property. The mortgage states that the insurance should be in joint names i.e myself and the mortgage company.

Can someone tell me how i would go abouts adding the mortgage company to the policy. I have tried making a joint application but it keeps asking for the name, Dob, occupation of the joint applicant

Don't worry about it. When you have arranged the insurance, you tell your mortgage company the name of the insurer and the policy number. They then make an application to the insurer to have their details added. Alternatively, if you are asked for the name of your mortgage provider in the insurance application, they should issue the policy with an automatic endorsement on it noting the interest of your mortgage company.
