I happen to be with LLoyds Tsb myself for my car.
    I got £120 cashback (on £150 policy)

I ran them up to enquire about adding some additional drivers onto the policy (for lifts to the airport).
The charges for adding on a driver were around £15, but the additional premiums were very small.

We didn't go ahead in the end, but I have to say I thought both their admin charges and their additional premiums were very reasonable.

I also don't think I am on an automactic renewal although I will of course check before renewal time.

Even though they may not say it anywhere, you will find at renewal time it is up to you to contact them and cancel, otherwise they do "helpfully" renew it for you.

    Thanks for the warning.

I'll send something by recorded deilvery just in case my cancellation is "lost in the post".

They seem ok about getting notified by phone (in advance) to cancel on the expiry day - and they do write and confirm it's been cancelled.

OK a lot clamer now, it was completely my own fault for leaving out the modification, but the only reason I got annoyed was I have ammended things on my home insurance with Halifax and never got charged a fee, maybe it's just different with car and home insurance.

Luckily I did go through Quidco and got the £80.

    BenL interesting suggestion.

It's all about the profit. costs are minimal in comparison. Also most insurance brokers charge a processing fee along with the nice commission they earn per policy.
