Banks No Longer Need To Attend Court

Options
Just for information for anybody attempting to proceed with court action against banks with reference to bank charges/ppi claims. Banks/Financial Establishments no longer have to attend court to defend their cases they can do this instead via tele conference and therefore now removes the chance that the bank will settle instead of attending court and paying additional costs. This is bad news.

It's not going to make a blind bit of difference if the courts rule in favour of the OFT.

A bit optemistic aren't you. I don't believe there will be a clear cut ruling but i do think that the case will fall prodominantly in our favour.

Meaning what, that even if "we" win in the test case that we'll still have to use MCOL etc to get our money back?

Mate i completely agree with you it isn't fair but hey at the end of the day if you want your money back then you do everything to get it back. The information i posted at the top of this thread isn't just about the bank charges it relates to PPI and credit card charges too.

I wasn't trying to dispute you, I was genuinely curious as to what it could mean. I've got no problem going through the motions to get the money back. The bank owe me far more than the CC companies did and I took them for every penny.

Its just the old case that it used to be the case that people could rely on the banks settling out of court because the costs for them to send a representative to court and the additional cost out stripped the cost of the claim. Now they no longer have this problem and they can defend the case over the telephone the number of defended case's will go up and the banks will fight tooth and claw for every penny. This action by the courts hasn't assisted us the poor saps it actually has assisted the banks.
