Why don't you put it down to experience, and in future, if you're too busy to read the terms and conditions of a contract, then don't sign it?

I would see myself as quite an open minded fair person, and I would say that a cancellation period on a contract of 1 month is fair. If it had automatically rolled onto another 12 month contract, forcing you to pay for 12 more months, then that would have been unfair.

A gym is a business, and given you run your own internet business, you'll know about accounts, and making money. By asking clients to give a months notice, it'll help monitor their cash flow, and also get them extra revenue from those who forget to cancel when they no longer use the gym. It's just business.

PLEASE read before signing something in future, and if you don't agree with the T&Cs, DON'T SIGN!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I'm really sorry that I made this post now!

Whilst everyone who has told me I am lazy, inefficient or whatever seems to have plenty of time to make personal diary entries I have to tell you there is not enough time in my day to do half the things I need to.

I run an Internet site for a living and as I do it on my own there is not the time to do all the personal things. I originally trained as a solicitor and part of that training meant you filed everything in plies on a desk . . .

I think the opinions expressed are not representative but then people like me only post to forums when we have a beef because the rest of the time we are too busy and too disorganised.

I had hoped that with 2,000,000 newsletter subscribers that the forums might have been more representative but at least you all showed an interest . . . and perhaps I will follow the advice in the future!

dont feel bad about making the thread, just try and make a note of when subscriptions you have taken out are due to end, your only human and you made an error, maybe i do agree with your point on some level but i try and make a note of when things are coming to an end and renew them

I really can't see where the OP is coming from here. The T&C's were presumably set out and it's a matter of taking personal responsibility for one's actions. As has already been said - use a diary to remind you if necessary and read contracts before you sign them.

"I originally trained as a solicitor and part of that training meant you filed everything in plies on a desk . . . "

Would you have had the same attitude in advising one of your clients?

Please folks...there's no need for this!

Some people are more organised than others, we all know businesses profit from those who forget to cancel subscriptions or keep paying and never use the service.

The thread is just becoming a war of words now which isn't what the site is about and is not pleasant to read.
