I wouldnt bother with the Comet ones as they have celeron processors which are the cheap basic processors, you can get a dual core processor for that price.

Again same with Asda apart from you last link which doesn't work.

I would go for the first link as you get a higher spec dual core processor than the second link. Though I not a big fan of Advent. Only thing is it says its wireless enabled but in the description is says its not:confused:

Have a look at this one.http://www.dabs.com/ProductView.aspx?Quicklinx=4YJW&InMerch=1

    add 1gb extra from www.crucial.com

and you get it for around £300

Also go through quidco you can get upto 3% cashback

The best one if you can get them for the price you want to pay is the Intel Core2duo.

However the Intel Coreduo or Dual Core processors are perfectly fine aswell. Both better than Celeron processors.

AMD Dual Core processors are fine as well.

I'd echo what Millionaire says, I'd also avoid Celeron processors at all costs.

If you can afford it, go for the Core 2 Duo processor.

You might find better deals and specs at https://www.dell.co.uk and looking at their latest offers at http://www.dmxdimension.com/

Unless you have to purchase from them, I would avoid PC World too!

Sorry for hijacking the thread but I'm in the same position and I was wondering whether anyone thinks it's worth going for a laptop with XP rather than Vista. I've seen some around that are cheaper with XP.
All opinions are my own and in no way contain official advice or guidelines.

It depends on your budget and what your going to use the laptop for, if its for general internet usage and word processing, database, spreadsheets etc then a Celeron Processor will be absolutely fine, however if you wish to use it for more intensive applications like photo-editing, video editing, game playing etc then you'll be better off with not a Dual core but a Core 2 Duo.Not much point in having the bells and whistles laptop which isn't being used to its potential.

Just to throw a couple of other Core 2 Duo laptops into the mix,Acer have quite good laptops, bought several now for myself as well as family and friends and never experienced any problems. This one I'm recommending is an Acer Extensa 5620 Core 2 Duo laptop. I bought one for a friend last week from a different supplier(cheaper here though now!!!)and its excellent.

    15.4 inch WXGA TFT display

    1 Year Carry in Warranty
    Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium

This laptop can be found here for £374.71 inc delivery

Thats a question that will get you two totally different replies. Some people, like me, love Vista Home Premium (I have a desktop with xp as well but prefer vista) while others hate it. Some will tell you that you will spend the rest of your life trying to get Vista drivers for printers etc while others, like me will tell you that my 3yrs old printer, scanner, webcam etc worked straight away. What all seem to agree on is that you need more ram with Vista.
In the end you pays your money and you makes your choice.
