When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging the washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.
Today I will:

Hi this is my first post ever on this website despite being signed up for a over a year. I have to say that Martin has saved me alot of money. I would never have discovered GreasyPalm.com without him that has not only saved me £435 on my car insurance this year (combination of comparing insurers and then buying through greasypalm), but I've also saved £65 on house insurance (same combo as above) plus various other little extras. This week I've started cycling to work - which requires a bit more organisation than throwing everything in the car but I'm enjoying that fresh air buzz tremendously. I purposely don't have any credit cards in my purse and only take £3 around with me for emergency milk buying. I shop online once a fortnight as I only get what I want and am not tempted by goodies in the shops - I make up the delivery fee by getting the cheapest slot possible (£2.50 with Sainsburys Tues-Thurs buying over £75). I buy Sainsburys basics as much as possible - their cream kitchen cleaner is fabulous! With this method I spend around £50 a week on groceries/toiletries/cleaning products. Sometimes this is a bit more if I can see BOGOFs that are worth it (I always compare with the cheaper products as the BOGOFs are sometimes more expensive anyway). I have found some bargain clothes in charity shops and ask for vouchers for Christmas/Birthday to treat myself to some new stuff (lately bought three pairs of pyjamas in M&S outlet for £20). I have just paid off an £11,000 loan in 18 months and am now chipping away at the overdraft and credit cards - total £5000. I am motivated by the fact that I don't want to be paying anyone else any extra money than I really have to. Yes I have fallen off the wagon a couple of times but this website has helped me back. Well done Martin for all your efforts. :T0

I have:
Checked banking.
Checked ebay sales.
Done pigsback click and comps.
Placed an online school uniform order on BHS, most had either 30% or 50% off and I used a 15% off code - 4 pairs of trousers, 2 polo shirts, 2 shirts, 2 sweatshirts came to £34.10 which included £3.50 del.
Placed an order for GU10 lightbulbs, had been buying 3 in Tesco for about £6, ordered 10 for £8.99 with free del
And I will:
Accost the postman, fingers crossed he has my cheque today!
Pay cheque into bank.
Do a wash at 30 on quick wash.
Line dry above.
Clean out the rabbits (free exercise).
Walk to school instead of drive.
List 2 items on ebay.
Look at placing a Tesco food order via mysupermarket for tomorrow and use a £10 code I picked up yesterday.0 -
The postie and I have fallen out, he had NO cheque! This is just ridiculous now, I earned that money and blinkin well want it!
Still on the plus side, he delivered my tesco HL mailshot with extra points vouchers.
Anyone know how to use a £10 off code and a 1000 extra points code on the same shop?0 -

Found a linen sundress for £3 and a Wallis cardigan for £1 in the charity shop.
Resisted going to the cafe for coffee & scuttled home instead.
HL Tesco mailing - a comp and 40 points instore, the rest is stuff we don't use and nothing for on-line.
Washing out on the line.I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
