My boss received a call yesterday from someone claiming to be from HSBC Bank saying that he owed £26 and could he pay it immediately. My boss got a bit irate! and said he would pay it when he could. Anyway now we think about it, we are wondering whether it is scam as I guess they try to pressure you to make the payment there and then and of course you would then handing over your card details..........
There is lots in the press about e-mail scams but I guess there are plenty of phone scams as well. Has anyone come across this kind of scam?

Surely all he has to do is 'phone HSBC and ask them if they contacted him? That should confirm one way or the other. Going by what he said to the caller he must know he owes some money and therefore it could be genuine.0
