Don't do it is my only advice.
By all means play with pretend money but if you are anything less than an expert you will lose any real money!0 -
Probably better asking on the Motley Fool - Options, CFDs & Spread Bet board.
Have to agree that you need to know what you're doing, though - IM (non expert ) O, it's closer to gambling than investing.0 -

I haven't traded options, but have experience in underlying shares, and commodities - the latter via unit trusts, OEICs and ETC/ETFs, over the past three years.
The usual mode for highly-geared trading or access to short-selling would be spread betting (no tax or interest, it's all in the wider spread) or CFDs. Less complicated than options/covered warrants. You would have to sign a special disclaimer for these sort of instruments because of the leverage involved - that is, you can lose everything, and then still have people chasing you for more, unless you use guaranteed stoplosses (which adds even more cost!)
No advice intended, but I would be more inclined to investigate normal stocks before trying derivatives, especially in this market!______________________________Darth Traderusing the Force of Compoundingsince a long time ago...0 -

Yes. I used to trade OTC Currency Options.
Without the knowledge, understanding and a heck of a lot of expensive and sophisticated software you will be eaten alive !!!!'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
The other option is spread-betting: tax free but risky:eek:BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!
