old credit card debt-advice please

hello,my husband has an old credit card debt which he paid off slowly with the help of CCCS.We then re-mortgaged our house and paid off his loan and had a bit of money left so we decided to pay off his credit card debt too. When talked to them he was told if he pays £3000 in one go they would knock down £1400 which we thought was great.I went to the bank and withdrawal the money a couple of days later to pay them off but then my husband was told they wanted an extra £300 on top of the £3000 for account to be settled. We paid the first £3000 and they agreed we make 3 more paymets of £100 in the next 3 months.I did the first payment this month and all of a sudden we had a call from them saying one of their staff made a mistake by sending us a letter comfirming our account is now settled as well as a cheque of £100,which is the money that i paid to them this month and we were told that was a mistake and we should still make 2 more payments.Shall we return their letter and cheque back to them and continue to make 2 more payments or what??My friend says she wouldn't if she was me but i would feel ever so guilty if i did that.I also wouldn't want to risk it as they already knocked down £1100 off and they might again change their mind and ask for the full amount maybe???Any advice would be great.

    That’s a really tricky situation.

How do you know they won’t ask for another £300 once you have finished paying as you intend to do so.

    And then another £300

I think you should go to Citizens Advice
