Help Just found out got an IGT!!!!

Most suppliers charge more to supply gas to IGT customers, so you will need to do your price comparison again. Some suppliers charge a higher gas charge, and some charge a fixed extra cost. There are a few suppliers, such as EDF, who don't charge more, provided you take both gas and electricity. Such suppliers may or may not be cheaper than suppliers that do charge extra.
None of the comparison sites (afaik) give prices for IGT customers and only some of the websites give any information. So the only real way to find out is to phone, which makes the whole process a bit of a pain.0 -
This makes me so angry with new builds. I have had two of them and now moved into an older house where I am IGT free.
I think it is a cheek that just so the builders can get the gas supply sorted a bit cheaper the likes of us poor householders end up footing the bill that stays with us for the life that we are at that particular house.
When I was doing my research into trying to get cheaper rates it was more or less impossible whilst some suppliers charge around an extra £50 per year. Yes there are the odd ones that you can find that may not charge the extra such as EDF however I have heard on the grapevine that they will be changing that soon too.
Rant over sorry but it makes me so mad when everything costs so much and builders put this on us. - I wasn't told that I would have an IGT when I bought it which makes it even worse - Shame on BellwayTopCashback £1792.63My Little World0 -
I was all set to change gas and electricity to EBICO, although couldn't find out how to contact them, and noticed I have an independent gas transporter. What do I do now.
As others say some suplliers charge extra for an IGT.
The good news is that Ebico do not charge any extra - it's part of their one price for all policy. You can just go ahead and change to Ebico - they will handle the IGT.
The only downside seems to be that the transfer can take a 2-4 weeks longer because of the IGT, and since Ebico currently seem to take 4-6 weeks to transfer, allow about 8 weeks for transfer of the IGT supply with Ebico.
Contact information for Ebico can be found here:

or you can just apply online at their website."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

How can you complain about this, it is the competitive market working?
I assume the cost of the house originally was less due to the builder giving the work to an IGT0 -

I doubt the house was any cheaper because it has its gas supplied by an IGT -I've certainly never seen any houses offered at a discount because of this and more often than not the seller doesn't even mention this - the first an owner finds out is usually when they get the bill from the gas supplier.
The only winner here is usually the original builder who probably got an increased profit margin on the build because they negotiated having the services installed on the cheap - leaving the eventual owners to pay forever for the priviledge ... with every bill they recieve"Now to trolling as a concept. .... You are absolutely correct here. We only found out about what an IGT was when we changed from our original supplier that the housebuilder had signed up with. And I only found it it costs me more when I had a letter from NPower yesterday, telling me about it and their costs if I changed to them.
Yet another thing housebuilders fail to mention..................0 -
A word of warning to all IGT households....
You cannot have a pre-payment meter, if for WHATEVER reason you fall into debt.
I would treat my Gas supply on the same level as my mortgage!
Electric is fine, but if you get into debt with gas, YOU WILL BE DISCONNECTED!!!
Now the clocks have gone forward and we are on BST, the fact you have children, is not an argument against it I am afraid.0
