critical illness cover & exclusions

hi, im about to take out a joint insurance policy, everything is ok etc.. but the insurance company have put an exclusion on 'total permanent disablement', maybe because i said that i once had 'gout' about two year ago, and if iam reading the document correct.. basicly its saying that if i become disabled and unable to work etc, then iam not covered..?

could anyone explain alittle more about this.. as taking out insurance for not being able to work, is one of the reasons for taking out life & critical illness in the first place?

tia..

Critical illness cover is not income protection. You dont take it out to cover you for not being able to work. You use permanent health insurance (PHI) for that (although you would probably get an endorsment on that as well).

CI is a lump sum payment on diagnosis of a specified critical illness.
