My sister in law has just informed me that today she went to get her money and there was nothing there so she phoned up the benefits office and was told that her benefit is now going to be paid monthly insted of fortnightly. Can they just do this as next week my mortgage payment is due and i rely on the money for that as well as living. No letter has been sent to my sister in law or us and it will leave us in one hell of a financial mess

I did wonder!
They can change the payment frequency, but it would have been usual for them to tell you first. If you are concerned about your own payments, give them a call.Gone ... or have I?0 -
do i assume that we are talking about dla here? if so and hers has recently been re-assessed then they are making changes to how/when they pay, especially if it was previously paid alongside other benefits.
If it is DLA you can contact them and ask for it to be paid weekly0 -
sorry woodbine I dont think you can get it weekly, if I remember from the application form its bi-weekly or monthly.0

DLA payment has now split from IB payment and is now paid at a different time.
My husband gets both and he now gets DLA every 4 weeks but still gets IB fortnightly
No idea why but they have.

You can apply for your DLA to be paid weekly if you state that it will cause you financial hardship otherwise.

My husband was not offered the choice. But it might have been because he had not had any DLA payment since feb so may they decided to change. Once he got back payment.
